Calling Out The Wireless Broadband Hype

We all know it happens. We tend to point it out often enough here that wireless technologies are consistently and repeatedly overhyped to their own detriment. People are told that they’re going to get something amazing, and then get upset when the actual experience comes nowhere near expectations. Thus, it’s no surprise that the same thing is happening with a variety of broadband wireless technologies these days. A carrier in Singapore says that they’re testing out three different wireless broadband technologies (none of which is related to WiMax) and the testers there say that none of them live up to their claims. It’s not hard to guess what wireless broadband technologies they’re likely testing — but, it doesn’t really matter. The simple fact is the industry, as a whole, has a serious overhype problem.
