WAPI's Back!

Sure, we all thought after the diplomatic pressure and companies claiming they wouldn’t bother with the Chinese market at all would mean that the Chinese plan to have their own version of WiFi, called WAPI, was dead in the water when China agreed to back down in April. We did note that there was still a chance it would come back — but most people seem to have forgotten about it. Well forget no more. After some pushing from the Chinese, WAPI has been acknowledged as a standard by ISO, and will be pitched alongside 802.11i. In other words, this mess isn’t over yet.
