The Case For E911 Location Aware Services

We’ve covered stories before about how E911 fees have been squandered by local governments, and how people have drowned and died in other ways because their location was unknown when they called 911 from a cell phone. Well, here’s another sad case study that has a weird twist: a LA woman was raped September last year, and called 911 during the ordeal. Since she could not be located, the assailant was not caught. Terrible story, no doubt. But the weird twist is that she saw the assailant on the low-cerebrum TV show “Blind Date” last month, taped the show, and supplied the tape to police. An arrest was promptly made.
