Verizon Wireless Withdraws Nextel Swap Opposition
Well, the last time we covered Verizon’s opposition to the proposed Nextel spectrum swap, we pointed out that VZW was funding shady coalitions to petition the FCC against the swap. We have requested VZW drop their opposition and allow the swap to proceed quickly, which may save first responder lives by reducing the interference their radios experience. Well, we got our wish Now that Verizon Wireless is officially withdrawing their opposition to the swap plan. As if that weren’t good enough a gift, in return Nextel will drop the frivolous lawsuits around other carriers using the term, “Push to talk” which they claimed as their own a year ago, and we derided. I suppose those Techdirt lobbyists Mike has on the payroll in DC are paying off.
