Mobile Phone Gaming On Track To Earn Over $1 Billion in '04

Talk about a market that caught on quickly. After languishing for years under false starts, over-promises, and under-delivery, the mobile phone gaming market is leaping towards earning $1B in 2004, with growth set to accelerate going forward. According to the study by Screen Digest, revenue is strongest in Asia, promising in NA, but “a confusing maze of tariffs for downloads and gameplay charged by mobile operators in Europe is depressing early growth in the region.” (remember our posts re the confusing J2ME ecosystem?). We agree that this market is booming, and the entry of the big guys like EA was a significant bellwether.
