PeopleSoft Still Not For Sale, Just More Honest About It

from the so-it-goes... dept

Despite the expectation that PeopleSoft’s board fired Craig Conway in order to bring in someone who would accept Oracle’s offer, Dave Duffield sent around a memo today telling employees that PeopleSoft is not for sale, and he does not intend to let Oracle acquire the company. Of course, that may be the only way to get people to keep on working, while also preventing Oracle from dropping the price of their offer (which Larry Ellison has threatened to do). Then again, maybe PeopleSoft really did fire Conway (and give him his millions in severance) because they felt he wasn’t being honest. So, now, they’re in the same position, this time, with more honesty.
