Web Publishers Still Sweating BugMeNot
from the get-over-it dept
Business Week is rehashing the story about online publishers sweating BugMeNot and suggesting that register-to-read-news-sites are eventually going to have to change. Yes, this has been covered before (many, many times), but it strikes me as interesting that the article does not quote a single publisher who is actually upset by this. Instead, it talks to a lot of people who either use BugMeNot or point out that it’s perfectly legal to use it, while suggesting that publishers adapt. Obviously, some previous stories have suggested that certain publishers are upset by BugMeNot, and the number of sites that now seem to scrape and delete BugMeNot registrations is (stupidly) growing. However, perhaps, some publications are realizing that it’s time for a change.

They don't really have to change...
All they have to do throw some money at legislators and have it made illegal.
