E-Learning Is About More Than Just E-Learning

from the missing-the-point dept

As the UK is pushing computers and internet access as a better way to promote “lifelong learning,” some seem upset that people don’t seem to be using computers for e-learning classes. It seems like this is missing the point. Learning isn’t just about taking some formal e-learning class, but using the computer and the internet to do stuff or to explore interests — which is what people seem to be doing. They’re using the internet for hobbies, which is a manner of learning. Just because it’s not happening in some formal setting, doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
