Judge Says No More Secret Access To ISP Records

from the a-little-openess-please dept

A judge has declared part of the Patriot Act unconstitutional, suggesting that the FBI shouldn’t have powers to look over the private records of a company’s customers without the company being allowed to tell anyone. The case in question focused on an ISP who had its records subpoenaed, but was told they couldn’t talk about it. Of course, the judge has already delayed enforcement of his ruling, knowing that the government will appeal, so, this may not actually mean anything yet. Update: No, I don’t know why this article appears to have been removed (moved?) by Wired News so quickly. Here’s a different version.
