Will Keyboards Save The English Language?

While “txt spk” has become quite popular, InfoSync is wondering if more phones with keyboards will help save the English language. While admitting that language morphs over time based on usage, the article still complains about just how sloppy language has become due to the SMShorthand. While it may be true, the concepts of texting-based shorthand are probably pretty well ingrained in a generation of people — and that might not be a bad thing. As long as people can distinguish the proper times to use the right type of language, is it really that big of a problem? Every generation has its slang, and just because the latest version came about due to mobile phones, it doesn’t make it any worse than slang from previous generations. In fact, at least this time the slang served a useful purpose.
