Spectrum Allocation: Not An Easy Problem To Solve

If you’re a regular reader, nothing in this article will be new to you, but it’s a good summary of issues related to spectrum allocation in the US, from the problems with the spectrum auction system to the farce of the NextWave spectrum auction to the whole Nextel/public interference mess. It also highlights the biggest mess of all: how the broadcasters are hoarding huge sections of valuable spectrum that could be put to much better use for wireless technologies. Worth reading if you’re unfamiliar with the issues involved in spectrum allocation, or if you just want a good, quick summary and refresher.
