Hikers Text For Help… Though It's Not Clear Why They Didn't Call

Textually.org points us to the following story about a pair of hikers who got lost, but were rescued after sending a text message for help. It makes for a nice story, but it makes you wonder why the mother-daughter pair didn’t simply call for help, but felt the need to resort to text messaging instead. There are, certainly, some situations in which it would make sense to text instead of call (for example, if the batteries are low, texting will use up less juice), however no one seems to question it at all in the article.
