Non-Standard Speed Boosts Are Now… Exclusive

3Com’s US Robotics’ division has announced their 802.11g “turbo” products in the middle east. Like other companies that allow speed “boosts” they’re using their own technology to do so, but in order to get around the whole standard/non-standard thing they’re calling this “exclusive” technology. Brilliant! Now, all we need is for the other non-standard wireless technologies to try the same sort of thing. It’s not just pre-standard WiMAX, it’s “an exclusive WiMAX pre-standard.”
