Tech Services Companies Eye Enterprise Wireless

Don’t look now, but the big tech services firms like IBM and HP see the potential of enterprise wireless. HP just announced plans to sell WiFi into corporate offices. The idea is that they’ll set up the networks and then manage the offering themselves. For people with a bit of WiFi experience this may sound silly. How difficult is it to set up a wireless network? However, for many companies, fear over maintaining and securing a WiFi network has held them back. If HP and IBM (who is apparently preparing a similar offering) start pushing heavily into the space, it could jumpstart the enterprise WiFi market. While one analyst in the article claims that WiFi in the office is really just a “nice to have,” others may disagree. They’re finding that WiFi actually boosts productivity, by providing more flexibility within the office, such as the ability to get things done during meetings.
