Feds Officially Ditch Do Not Spam List Idea

from the no-surprise-there dept

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone considering previous comments by the FTC concerning the possibility of a “Do Not Email” or “Do Not Spam” list, but now the feds will officially say that they will not create such a list. They point out that it would be impossible to enforce without email authentication. If anything, it would be likely to increase the amount of spam sent as spammers will simply use the list as a way to get fresh addresses.
