Nokia's Troubled Results Now Clear

Nokia admitted last month that their sales were weak, and we noted that everyone else claimed to take marketshare from Nokia. Well, now the official numbers are out, and, indeed, Nokia got killed. While overall sales were up, everyone took sales away from Nokia and their market share dropped a whopping 5.7%. They still hold quite a lead, but the numbers certainly make it clear that they’ve stumbled. The question now is what they’ll do to turn things around. They claim they understand their mistakes, but the competition is clearly getting stronger. The numbers from the next few quarters are going to become much more important for how people view Nokia’s future. Derek adds: And as we’ve discussed before at Techdirt, carriers seem to be gravitating towards vendors that respond to their customization requests, where Nokia has been seen as unresponsive.
