Oh, Now Bluetooth Goes Mainstream

Bluetooth, the wireless technology that’s been declared dead multiple times, is now apparently set to go mainstream, according to the folks at In-Stat/MDR. The main reason, they say, is the use of Bluetooth in the automotive market for things like hands-free, wire-free kits for mobile phones. The next big growth area for Bluetooth is expected to be Personal Mobile Gateways (PMGs) from companies like IXI, which we’ve talked about many times before, but now appears to be ready for prime-time. Anyway, yet another reason to wait until people declare a wireless technology completely dead before expecting to see all those useful applications.
