Nokia Focusing On CDMA In India

For years, Nokia has pretty much tried to ignore CDMA. They’ve made some efforts to develop CDMA phones, but for the most part they never got very far with CDMA. They were doing just fine by focusing on (and dominating) the GSM market instead. About a year ago, however, they realized that the competition was getting stiffer and it probably made sense to focus more on CDMA. With the recent troubles Nokia has had, as well as the growth of CDMA in Asian countries, it appears Nokia is now trying to take the market even more seriously and have set up a research center in India, specifically to focus on CDMA. While it’s a bit surprising that it’s taken them this long to take CDMA so seriously, at least they’re now trying to do something about it.
