Wireless Data Prices Dropping
The running joke has been that all US carriers charge $80/month for unlimited data services – no matter what speed they’re offering. So, Verizon was offering EV-DO at $80/month while AT&T Wireless was offering the much slower EDGE at $80/month. However, it looks like carriers have finally realized that that’s not going to work. The Feature notes that AT&T Wireless is now dropping their prices drastically, and notes the prices that the other carriers are now charging for unlimited data as well (though, for much slower networks). So, now it seems that the entry point for the highest speed is $80, then you drop to $50 when there’s a bit of competition, and down to about $20 when your service doesn’t have much to distinguish itself any more.
