Wireless Laptops In Libraries

Over in the UK, they’re trying to update the modern library with wireless connections and laptops patrons can borrow. It’s initially focused on rural libraries, but if it goes well, they hope to provide it to all libraries around the UK. They picked rural libraries first on the assumption that those areas have less access to broadband. Not all of the libraries will have lendable laptops, so they should get good comparative information about how useful the program is in a variety of circumstances. It would be interesting to find out how many people are interesting in “checking out” a laptop in a library – and also how many decide to bring their own.
