Intruder Spotted Via Web Cam Across The Country

from the who-needs-an-alarm? dept

A family in Washington state who suspected that someone may have broken into their home while they were away set up a webcam the next time they went on vacation. Last week, they were in DC, and the son logged in to check the webcam and found their neighbor sitting by their computer. They had asked him to watch their cats – but not to go in the house. They called the police, who arrested the teen. He claimed he had had a fight with his parents and needed a place to stay – and since he knew the family was away he broke in. However, the police say the place was also “ransacked” with food and belongings thrown around the home. They also have images of the teen downloading porn on their computer. Who needs a burglar alarm when you can just leave your webcam on?
