Avon Using Camera Phones To Analyze Your Skin

It certainly sounds like it’s mostly a marketing gimmick, but here’s yet another example of camera phones in a different way. Avon Cosmetics, in Japan, is apparently giving camera phones to sales people who snap a picture and send it off to a service that will analyze the customer’s skin for what kind of cosmetics they should use. I doubt it’s really all that useful, but it certainly shows (again) that the power of a camera phone isn’t so much that it’s a camera, but that it’s a connected camera.
