Mobile Marketing Needs To Be Different

A call to the industry that is likely to be completely ignored, pointing out that for mobile marketing to work it needs to embrace what’s new and different about mobile communications in a creative way. Instead, we just get companies taking the same thing they’ve done online or on TV and trying to push it to mobile phones, with small adjustments for the different device. Of course, the lazy marketer doesn’t want to be bothered with coming up with brand new ideas that embrace the medium, but want to be able to re-use ideas they used in other mediums. What this is going to do is cause a lot of poorly designed marketing to go out to users, pissing them off, and slowing down the usefulness of any real mobile marketing campaign in the future.
