Better Interfaces For Mobile Phones

Peggy Anne Salz, who we mentioned last month for her piece about carriers training mobile phone users to make better use of wireless data services, has something of a followup piece. She points out that while training users might be a good step – it also makes a lot of sense to make the user interface much more intuitive. She then goes on to talk about Atrua, a company that appears to have designed a “touchpad” style interface for mobile phones that give users more control over what’s happening on the screen. While the technology is patented, it really doesn’t sound different from typical laptop touchpads – just moved to the mobile phone.
