More Money For WiMax
As if WiMax didn’t have enough buzz already, there’s lots of news this morning concerning Aperto, makers of WiMax equipment, raising an additional $20 million. To be honest, my biggest surprise is that we haven’t heard more WiMax fundings in larger amounts. WiMax definitely has a lot of attention (partly due to savvy marketing), and it’s the type of solution that a lot of people have been looking for. In that past, VCs have shown no problem throwing ridiculous numbers of dollars at networking plays – but perhaps they’ve learned a bit from that spending spree and are holding a bit more back this time. Still, if there’s any evidence that WiMax is catching on, expect to see many more investments at increasing dollar amounts.
