The Battle For Mobile Phone Towers
We’ve written a few times about the extremes to which companies will go to hide mobile phone towers, but there are still plenty of legal battles. In the US, federal regulations forbid local governments from preventing carriers from building towers in areas where there are known deadspots. However, many local governments are still refusing – and getting sued by the carriers. The law is pretty clear so the local governments end up losing, but they seem to figure that in losing the case in court they can shift the blame to the court, and not have to shoulder any of it themselves for letting the phone tower get set up.
