Discover Your New Ringtone: A Lion Roar
Discovery Communications, purveyors of the excellent Discovery channel, have struck a deal with Vodafone to bring a suite of mobile content to the carrier. Discovery will offer animal grunts, growls, roars, and singing as ringtones, and images of nature and wonder as screen savers. Discovery is also reportedly working on games based on their programming. Great ideas. I was talking to a Sprint PCS manager about their ringtones earlier this year, and told him my favorite was the clucking chicken. He told me that was actually him with a microphone, which they had made as a prototype, but was so good they released it with their service. Another benefit of animal noises in general: the actors never demand royalties! Update by Mike: The British Library already beat them to this.
