Day Two Of LNP: No Big Problems Yet

Well, I doubt we’ll keep a running watch, but just a quick update, that as of day two of local number portability there still haven’t been any major problems reported. As many people predicted all the fear mongering stories have proven unfounded – though, perhaps, the stories themselves are making people wait. The prediction now is that Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) might be a big switch day, but everyone seems to think they can handle it now.

To all the customers who are trying to port your numbers I work at Cingular.

We have had problems at the beginning because everyone wanted to port on the same day of when the wlnp launched.

If you wanted to port your numbers we have been asking are customers to wait a week or two. this way the system is not over loaded.

And telling are customers about the down time between the switching over.

People are forgetting its not that simple to swich a number.

You also have service with both providers so your not completely out of service. You are just being billed for two services.

And its not the carriers fault its the PAC Center who is handeling the porting
they are tying up both ends.

So I ask your self how important is your number to you. Do you really need it and the head ache of the switch. Or can you get a new one and get service the same day.

Just a FYI The porting will get better in time we hope.

So please bare with the other carriers out there this has been hard on them to.

Thank you
