It seems that every news story these days about camera phones is focused on how they can be used to take pictures secretly, and how various places are passing laws or banning them. Alan Reiter is speaking up and telling the entire wireless industry that they need to shape up and get the real message out about camera phones. Yes, there are potential misuses of them, but there are so many more valuable uses for them – and banning them completely is certainly a baby-with-the-bathwater sort of situation. So far, much of the industry has been reactive, trying to calm down those who get too worked up about the “dangers” of camera phones. However, they’ve done little to promote all the many valuable reasons to offer camera phones as well.
