Wireless For The Wireless
With all the talk of people ditching their landlines in favor of mobile phones, sometimes we forget that there are plenty of folks out there who never even have had the chance to have a landline phone… and wireless technology is suddenly giving them the ability to have their first phone. The article talks about some rural communities where they’re offering a fixed wireless solution for phones. The backhaul comes in wirelessly, but the phone itself is still “fixed” in that it needs to be plugged into the wall for power (meaning, they still need power lines coming in somehow). Once again, though, it’s an example of how wireless can go above and beyond and let you offer something that is much more difficult if you have to go with a wired solution.
