Bluetooth Hits Milestone
The Bluetooth standard, of which I am unambiguously a backer, hit a major milestone this week, as Bluetooth radio shipments now exceed 1M units per week. Bluetooth has been much maligned, and rightly so, for not being easy enough to pair radios and because the standard was fragmented. Despite these criticisms, there remains no credible alternative with Bluetooth’s fantastic power draw, appropriate PAN range, small size, and low cost. Now that it’s shipping in massive volumes, Bluetooth has achieved a critical mass. Momentum assures its role in cable free connectivity over the next decade.
