Is Yahoo Changing Their Tune On Intrusive Ads?

from the maybe,-possibly... dept

Nearly two years ago, someone from Yahoo! announced that the company was going to focus on making advertising ever more intrusive, since that was the only plan that made sense to them. It appears that they’ve either (smartly) changed their minds, or are telling two different stories to two different groups. The latest release from the partnership of SBC and Yahoo says that they’re including a pop-up blocker with their internet connections service. Clearly, this could be just coming from the SBC side of the fence as more ISPs feel pressure to offer pop up blockers. However, if Yahoo! is pitching advertisers on how successful their intrusive advertising program is, you have to wonder how they explain pushing so many intrusive ads with one hand, while offering users a way to block them with the other.
