Anti-Spam Laws Working In South Korea?

from the a-little-bit dept

While I’ve said before that I don’t think anti-spam legislation is the answer to the spam problem, some new evidence suggests it does make a difference. In South Korea, a new study has shown a reduction in spam, as a percentage of overall email since anti-spam legislation was strengthened. Of course, the details aren’t that promising. People still reported that 70% of their email was spam, down from 90% previously. There’s also still the question of defining spam – which is difficult if the law can be used against perfectly legitimate email as well.
