From Text Messaging To Marriage

In what sounds like it was made up by the marketing department of Telenor ASA, the Norwegian telecom company, is this story of a couple meeting, flirting, and eventually getting married thanks to text messaging. Well, not quite, but mobile phones play a big role. They met via text messaging on an SMS Flirt service and rang up huge bills over the first month of their long distance relationship. Eventually, they switched to cheaper land lines for phone calls. They agreed to get married before they’d even met, and picked out wedding rings while talking via mobile phone. Wedding invitations were sent out by SMS and the wedding itself took place in a telephone booth. The honeymoon is being paid for by Telenor, which (again) makes you wonder about how truthful this story is. I wonder if they’ll handle marital arguments by SMS as well…
