Sprint PCS Unveils Complete Youth Strategy – Like A Virgin

What comes around goes around. Sprint PCS, the underlying network invisibly serving the Virgin Mobile MVNO in the US is going to become a re-seller of Virgin Mobile services. In what appears to be a sound business decision, Sprint PCS will commit to using Virgin as its youth market segment strategy. Originally Sprint PCS benefited from Virgin sales by increased network traffic, and a large equity share in Virgin. With this deal, Sprint PCS will also add the benefits normally targeted at mobile retailers, like Carphone Wharehouse or Radio Shack. These benefits usually include a commission on the sale, and an ongoing share of the customer’s bill amount. Virgin also benefits by leveraging Sprint PCS’ established national distribution network, and trained staff. Sprint PCS can keep their brand for business and postpaid (mid and high tier) users, and use the Virgin brand for youth and pre-paid users.
