Earthlink Suing Spam Rings

from the keep-it-up dept

Earthlink continues their aggressive legal moves to stop spammers. Today they announced that they’ve filed lawsuits to break up two different “spam rings” which could involve up to 100 people. They claim the spam rings are responsible for up to 250 million email messages and use fake websites and email accounts bought using stolen credit cards. It’s good to see more direct lawsuits against spam rings. If it’s true (and who knows if it is) that only a small group of spammers is really responsible for the majority of spam sent – maybe breaking up a few of these rings can have a real impact on slowing down the spread of spam.
