An MMS Soap Opera
While I still think the real benefits of mobile phone messaging is in ways it connects people to each other and not in “broadcast” style content, PicturePhoning.com has an interesting post about how there’s an “MMS soap opera” in Holland starring some famous soap opera actors. It will be interesting to see how well this does (and how quickly others copy it). Even more interesting will be to see if others start to innovate on the concept and make it more interactive. Update: Thanks to one of the team who developed this soap for clarifying (via the comments). It’s not done via MMS, but by WAP-push, and the initial take-up has been promising, though the majority of users are still tuning in via the web, than over their mobile phone.
