GSM Association Urges WCDMA On China
The saga of China’s decisions concerning what 3G standard to go with has been discussed here previously. Now, the GSM Association has decided that the matter is not yet final, and have gone to China to try to convince officials there to do the sensible thing and forget all about TD-SCDMA and take a look at WCDMA. Of course, with Qualcomm’s presence in China, I imagine they’re pushing just as hard for CDMA2000. Of course, since China’s telecom firms seem to have no concerns for what the government wants and seem ready to pick their own damn standards, it makes you wonder how big of a difference this lobbying will make.
