The Next Handheld War: Sony vs. Sony?
Interesting piece suggesting that Sony may be put in an uncomfortable position as mobile phones and PDAs continue to merge. With the release of their latest Clie PDA, Sony may, in some ways, be competing with the smartphones from Sony Ericsson, a joint venture they co-own with (you guessed it) Ericsson. While the latest Clie doesn’t offer a cellular radio (yet), it does have WiFi and Bluetooth. The overall feature set of the two is, indeed, similar: “PIM, games, e-mail, digital music player, Web surfing, Bluetooth, Memory Stick (Duo on the P800), and a miserable integrated camera”.
