They Give Hacking A Good Name

from the as-if-it-needed-it? dept

The title of this piece is unfortunate, because it assumes that “hacking” already had a bad name. Hacking has both good and bad connotations, and it seems like the press is the only ones who focus entirely on the bad. However, the article itself is about a new program started by an entrepreneur to take “troubled” teens who are gifted with computers and teaching them about computer security. The idea is that a lot of these kids are simply bored with regular school, and by igniting their interest in computers, it may get them re-engaged with the education process. It sounds like there are some early success stories coming out of the program already.
