Andreessen Says Web Browsing Innovation Is Dead

Marc Andreessen is apparently complaining that there’s no more innovation happening in the web browser space. He’s particularly upset that the navigational structure, which he’s partly responsible for creating, hasn’t changed at all. Of course, if he’s that upset about it, why doesn’t he take a swing at the Mozilla code himself. If he really thinks that there’s a better way, then he should step up to the plate and build it. He does have a reputation for building browsers, after all. Otherwise, these statements come off like the old man complaining: “back in my day… “

Funny, coming from the first guy to stop innovating a browser! If Netscape has stayed focused on the browser instead of chasing the dream of being an enterprise software company it might be a whole different world on the Internet today.

come on, andreesen never built a browser…he just swiped some code from NCSA.

Um, not true. Andreesen wrote the first code for Mosaic whilst a student at NCSA. It was his student project I believe. It was really badly written too – we used to send him tons of bugs
