Questioning Intellectual Property
from the is-it-really-that-desirable dept
No conclusions here, but a columnist has written up an opinion piece questioning the whole theory behind intellectual property. He seems to just bring up many different reasons why we should question our view of intellectual property, but doesn’t suggest how he feels about all of these ideas. I still think it’s good to see more mainstream publications actually step back from their assumptions about intellectual property. With all the various IP debates going on today, too many people start the debate with far too many assumptions about why we need intellectual property. Examining both the pros and cons of intellectual property is a much better starting point, but usually gets shouted down by people who think those who question current intellectual property laws are simply pirates.
