ICANN Approves Framework For Greater Public Input

from the just-a-framework? dept

So, soon after they simply kicked out all of their publicly elected board members, and became increasingly secretive in their process for managing the internet naming system, ICANN is saying that they want to be more open with the public. Sounds like taking two steps backwards, and then saying what a good idea it would be to move forward. Instead of actually doing something to be more open they’ve just set up a “framework” for how they could be more open. If they want to be more open, they should be more open. They shouldn’t kick off everyone who was trying to be open, and then set up a “framework” for how they could be more open (maybe, possibly) in the future.
