Senate To Examine Online Copyright Dispute

from the that-commerce-committee-sure-is-busy dept

Well, the Senate Commerce Committee sure is busy today taking on a lot of the topics we like to talk about here. Earlier today we had stories about them taking on spam and then thinking about reversing the FCC’s decision on media consolidation. It appears they’ve also decided to speak up about the battle between copyright protection and customer privacy. This is, basically, the Verizon case that they’re talking about – where the RIAA was requesting info on private customers without filing a lawsuit against them. The committee will hold “hearings” on the matter, so who knows if they’ll actually do anything about it.
