Camera Phones Find Their Focus

For all the talk about how 3G services have had trouble catching on the one thing that really has seemed to find a market is picture messaging. I’ll admit that I was skeptical of this idea in the past – while plenty of people told me it was revolutionary. I’m still not convinced it’s revolutionary, but I’m coming around to the idea that it’s something many people want. The question I’m wondering, though, is at what point do camera phones completely replace cameras for basic snapshots? The quality isn’t there yet, but as J-Phone is now launching the first megapixel camera phone, it’s catching up quickly. If I’m in the camera business, I need to prepare for the fact that these camera phones are going to start nipping away at the low end.
