Wi-Fi Hotspots To Boom – Many Providers To Go Bust

Here’s one that seems obvious to us. While many more WiFi hotspots will come online in the next few years, and all of those hotspots will find more people using them, the companies that are trying to build commercial hotspots will have a lot of trouble. That’s because, generally speaking, their business models are out of whack with reality. When there are free hotspots everywhere, and you’re trying to charge $40/month in the same location, you’ve clearly got a problem. Companies looking to cash in on WiFi need to stop looking at how they can nickel and dime users every time they get online, and look for more indirect (but, probably more profitable) business models.
