Top Brands Pull P2P Ads In Porn Scare

from the get-over-it dept

The music industry really is trying to shut down the various file sharing networks on all fronts. Their latest move is to tell companies that are advertising on these networks that they’re advertising on a network where porn is available – and that it could negatively impact their brand. This has caused a few companies to pull their ads – “just to be safe”. I have news for these companies: there’s porn on the internet – and yet they still advertise on the internet. Kazaa and Grokster and all the other networks out there are just networks people can use to share content. Just like the internet itself. The fact that some people choose to share porn doesn’t reflect badly on the companies that advertise there. As someone in the article says, “just because when you key the word porn into a Google search engine it comes up with loads of porn links that doesn’t make it a bad site.” Assuming that porn on Kazaa means you can’t advertise on Kazaa suggests that you shouldn’t be online at all.
