Uncle Sam: Share Your System Secrets

So, apparently, the latest “homeland security” strategy from the US government is telling corporations they should hand over details of their infrastructure vulnerabilities to government officials – who then promise to safeguard the information. For years, government agencies have been trying to get companies to hand over such info, but no one does because (1) they fear leaks from the government and (2) they don’t see the benefit and (3) they don’t have the time. Having the governmnet insist that they really really (really!) will keep it secret this time isn’t likely to change the way most companies act.
