Reaching America Through EBay

from the it's-all-advertising dept

In the past we’ve had articles about all sorts of “publicity stunts” that use eBay as the publicity generator. It appears that eBay is finally recognizing this and promoting that fact to potential corporate sellers – pointing out that not only is eBay a good way to sell items, but it also has a high likelihood of generating attention from the press and internet users in general. Of course, I wonder how long this can last. At some point, the novelty of selling things on eBay starts to go away, and the publicity generation factor has to decrease. Update: Speaking of such publicity-by-ebay, back in December when we pointed out that eBay must be thrilled by the free publicity they got when someone sold a town on eBay, we also wondered if the bid was legitimate. It turns out that, four months later, the sale still hasn’t been finalized, and the owners of the town are still waiting for their check.
