GM Pulling Plug On Electric Cars – But Moving Forward On Liquid Hydrogen Cars
from the as-long-as-it-remains-way-off-in-the-future dept
Last fall we had an article about how GM was doing everything possible to get their electric cars off the road in California – despite the fact that many of those who had leased the vehicles wanted to keep them. GM has decided it won’t support them and simply wants them off the road. Of course, a loosening of California’s “zero emissions” regulations helped make this possible. In the meantime, though, that very same GM has announced plans to work with BMW to develop liquid hydrogen fueled cars. A cynical person might wonder if GM only works on such advances if they’re far enough away in the future that it won’t take away from their gas-guzzling offerings. As soon as a product becomes commercially ready, they’ll come up with some reason to pull it. I don’t necessarily believe that, but it is odd that they won’t even let the people who want to keep their electric vehicles hang onto them.
